SWOT ANALYSIS

To compare U’Charge to other companies, it is important to know what U’Charge itself has to offer. To get a good picture of what the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are, a SWOT analysis is performed.

The strength of U’Charge is that it focuses not only on satisfying the customer’s basic needs and wants but also on providing safety, security, and comfort at all times. Even though GPS is used, the user’s privacy is protected when using a power bank. The power bank itself has an ergonomic grip and is easy to carry, so carrying the power bank and the phone simultaneously doesn’t burden the customer. If the phone doesn’t have a magnetic component inside, the power bank will not stick to the phone. The power bank has suction cups that allow it to stick to the phone without damaging it.

The weakness is that it is an environmentally unfriendly product. However, that goes in general for all technology-based products. Additionally, the battery will be only able to be charged wirelessly, this means the target group is limited since people that own an older version of a phone might not be able to use the power bank.

When it comes to opportunities, there is a possibility of changing the concept to a more sustainable solution where solar panels or wind turbines would charge the power banks. Looking in the long term, customers in other cities of the Netherlands can be considered. In this way, the power banks can be taken outside of the city of Amsterdam, which would be very useful for people traveling to different cities. In this way, the number of customers should be drastically increasing.

Threads are also taken into consideration. Since the battery can be charged wirelessly the customer might recharge it at home for free and use it multiple times in this case, the company would be losing money. However, since we are targeting tourists that should not be a big problem.
