Making an impact

Providing a design that provides safe water for those in need. An solution to which we are confident the design will contribute.

The design will aid people both during the COVID-19 pandemic and in their daily lives, as it helps people staying clean, hydrated and healthy. It ensures that people can wash their hands and body properly, which is one of the main points considered to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Brazil's goals for water

The Brazilian government has established goals for sanitation and water access to be achieved by the year of 2033. One of those goals is expanding the sewage system coverage to 90% of Brazilian territory. The other goal is ensuring that 99% of the population has access to potable water.

Our vision

Close contact with locals

The first step is contacting social workers, local leaders, and NGO’s working closely with the people in the favelas. They know best about the situation and can use their network to maximize the design’s outreach. Together, we will ensure that the water filter reaches the inhabitants of favelas and that it will be used to its full potential.

Posters and Manuals

Manuals and informative posters were developed to deliver the information in a succinct and effective manner. These include information on how to build the design as well as inform about COVID-19 prevention measures.

Packages

To enhance the implementation and to check quality, kits could be put together containing all the materials needed and the manuals. These packages can then easily be distributed.

Workshops

Workshops are to be organized to safeguard the quality of information being transmitted, as well as the produced filter’s standards. These events will stimulate collaboration and a greater community feeling.

Donations are the key

In light of the severe impact to the economy and daily lives, many corporations and organizations have donated to aid in the fight against the coronavirus.

The money donated could make a big difference in the implementation of our design. Donations provide the necessary financial resources to print manuals and posters, put together kits with materials and organise workshops to teach people to create the designs.
