The plum tree in my grandfather’s garden that we used to eat the fruits from every year died a few years ago. As soon as I made the first cut with the chainsaw, I knew I needed to preserve the wood. I cut the tree into planks and since then use them for small projects. Here you see a magnetic knife hanger I made. With this kind of material, you don’t even really need to think about designing. The materials just tell you what to do. In this case I kept it super simple, hiding all trace of mounting hardware and letting the woodgrain speak.
