About Me
Industrial design engineering
Student at the
university of twente
I am Carmen, a 20 year old Dutch student, currently a third year bachelor student of Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente.
All my life, I have had a great interest in various things and was never able to make a single choice. Besides my creativity, this is one of the main reasons I chose this study. Without a single focus point and enough room to express my creative side, it is a perfect match.
Over the years, I have worked on several projects during and outside of the study. Take a look at my past projects and different types of sketches I have made to get a better idea of me as a designer.
recent Projects
During the minor, I did a Scientific Challenge. A duo project focussing on research about a self-selected topic; the waste of diabetics and how the environmental impact can be reduced. This concluded in a support product for a new recycling system of the main manufacturer of disposable insulin pens, where we helped to facilitate the collection in nursing homes.
This minor-project focussed on the modeling of a patient-specific prototype of a scoliosis spine. Before the surgery that is often necessary to treat severe cases of the condition, it is hard to predict the outcome. To make this insightful, I worked on the development a prototype that could simulate the movement of the spine.
Every year, a lot of medication is disposed while there is nothing wrong with the product itself. Due to regulations, boxes that are handed out, even when they are still closed, are not allowed to be sold again. During this project, we looked for ways to get this medication back into the system to prevent waste of resources and pollution.
