About me

Welcome!

My name is Camiel Lemmens, born in 1998 and raised in a small town near Maastricht in the deep south of the Netherlands. From about as soon as I could think, I decided that I wanted to become a car designer when I was grown up. As a kid, I was always building cars and car-related stuff with Lego and K’nex, and as I got older I got more and more fascinated with graphic design and movie making as well. After shortly doubting about going to film school, I decided to put my brains to the test and follow a study in Industrial Design Engineering. In this study, I could easily express some creativity while also learning more about engineering.

During my studies I got more and more interested in managing product development processes. I was fascinated by design, but even more so fascinated with the process in which these designs are made: how can you develop a product that people actually want, but also works properly, is durable, and easy to produce and recycle? This interest has led me to follow the Management of Product Development master track of Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente. This master track combines the multidisciplinary aspects of designing (engineering, ergonomics, human interactions) and puts these in an organizational context. This combination creates managers and organizers that keep an overview of design processes without losing focus on the significance of the eventual design.

In my free time, I’m busy working for Persoonlijk Proefschrift, where I design lay-outs for PhD theses together with their respective PhD-candidates. Furthermore, I like making graphic designs such as logos and labels for fictional companies. I much enjoy making music on my trumpet and keyboard, go road cycling every week and love watching motorsport. It is my dream to work as a design manager in the automotive world.
