3D Printing

Since the summer of 2020 I own a FDM 3D printer. I have been busy upgrading it and experimenting with different filaments. I print models that I download online but I also like 3D modelling. I use my 3D modelling skills to design custom prints for people around me. I even did some freelance projects with 3D printing. Below, a selection is shown of models that I 3D printed.

Design Project: 3D Printed Japanese style lamp

Since a long time, I have been inspired by Japanese culture and design. I wanted to combine the classic style of Japanese carpentry design with the idea of a modern lamp/lantern. After a bit of sketching I quickly started modelling in Solidworks. I modelled in such a way that it is printable on my Ender 3 V2 3D printer in separate big prints. I had a general idea of how I wanted to construct the lamp but while working in Solidworks, a lot of tweaking was done with sketching sessions in between. The final result consists of 12 hard (PLA) parts and 4 small flexible (TPU) parts that are supposed to click on the bottom to avoid slipping. So 16 parts in total.

Things I ordered for the build:
–    Rice paper
–    Dimmable LED light bulb Warm White (7 Watt)
–    Dimmer
–    Light bulb fitting

Flexure mechanism for a 70 degree angle click in place hinge

Fully 3D-Printed Push-Up handles

Convenient pen container

Industrial methane torch scale model
